Review: Efteling Bosrijk Family Holiday

Efteling theme park in the Netherlands is without a doubt one of the most magical places we’ve been to in Europe, and if you’re planning a short holiday to Efteling, you will most definitely want to stay at one of their accommodation (you get to enter the park half an hour before everyone else!).

I’ll start by saying that our children would’ve been delighted to have spent the whole holiday just playing within the village – its wonderful setting is perfect for children to explore, play in one of the several playgrounds or make some music on the magical musical well (which luckily was right outside our house!).

Staying at Bosrijk Village

Location

The Bosrijk Village is located about 10 minutes’ walk to the park’s entrance, nestled within a forest. If you’d rather stay within a shorter walk, the park’s main hotel is located right outside the park’s entrance. The setting was enchanting. After checking-in the castle, we walked through the woods and around the lake with its own castle (more on that later). On the short walk we managed to spot a handful of hares, a red squirrel and a wonderful array of birdlife – the fairytale had begun.

The village houses

We stayed at one of Bosrijk’s village houses, which with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms a spacious living room and a fully equipped kitchen was perfect for both my son and I, my friend Carrie and her two daughters. The house was beautifully quaint from the outside, just like a little forest chalet, but inside it was modern, beautifully decorated and impeccable – exactly what you want when visiting with kids.

Clearly a lot of thought has been put into decorating the house – there are little magical Efteling details everywhere, from sandman’s sleeping hats for the whole family, to a beautifully packaged kitchen pack, a pizza takeaway menu (!) and a supermarket order list, should you wish to self-cater – perfection.

Restaurant: breakfast and dining area

We had the buffet breakfast both mornings we spent at Bosrijk, which was one of the highlights for my foodie son! What is it you say? An array of delicious cold meats, smoked salmon, cooked breakfast, a selection of pastries and CHOCOLATE SPRINKLES? They were in breakfast heaven.

Our two night stay was nothing short of magical, and we all agreed that we would love to return for a longer break to make the most of the park and the village itself! If you’re unsure weather to book it, do it – we promise you won’t regret it! If you have any questions at all just drop me an email or get in touch on Facebook.

If you’d like to read a bit more about our stay and watch a video of our trip, pop over to Flying with a Baby’s website for her fab review!

NB: I was a guest of Efteling, but as always my views are my own.
