We’re very lucky to call Brighton home. This is a city that is always so full of life, with so much to do! February half-term is looming, and if like us, you’re not fortunate enough to be spending it on the slopes, here are our top ideas for things to do in Brighton during February half-term.

1 | Outdoors Project

If you’re looking for a childcare solution that incorporates plenty of fresh air then the Outdoors Project is it. We had the pleasure of taking part in one of their half-term days last year, and it was the highlight of the school break for my son (read our review). The Outdoors Project run after-school clubs, and holiday clubs in Brighton & Hove as well as Bristol.

2 | SK Shlomo’s Beatbox Adventure for Kids at the Old Market

SK Shlomo is a Guinness World Record breaking beat-boxer who has worked with Bjork, Damon Albarn, Martha Wainwright , Basement Jaxx  and  The Specials. In this kids special show, he’ll be showing children his beatboxing skills, and getting the whole theatre together for a rap-battle-finale!

3 | Get Outdoors with the National Trust

There are all sorts of fun activities at National Trust properties in East Sussex this half-term, including Bodiam Castle’s ‘visiteering’ days; following a winter trail at Bateman’s or testing yourself on your flower knowledge at the International Garden Photographer of the Year exhibition at Sissinghurst Castle Garden.

4 | Myths, Fables and Fairytales at Hove Museum

At Hove Museum during half-term kids can draw, stick, build and make in this fun, craft based workshop. Take your inspiration from the work in the current display by Fabula.

5 | Half Term Science Workshops at The Observatory Science Centre in Hailsham

This half-term get the inner scientist out of your kids with a workshop at the Observatory Science Centre in Hailsham. These interactive sessions will immerse children in engaging experiments, or making and creating.

6 | Art Workshops at the Art Room in Hove

During half-term the Art Room in Hove opens up for 9am-3pm workshops with fantastic, engaging themes. On Monday 13th February: Picasso / Regular Show mash-up! ; Tuesday 14th February: Pokemon Go / Van Gogh landscapes Wednesday 15th February: Animal ink paintings ; Thursday 16th February: Harry Potter / Basquiat mash-up! and Friday 17th February: Surrealist collages.

7 | B Starz Academy Holiday Club

If you have a budding Britain’s Got Talent finalist on your hands, give B Starz Academy a go for a super fun half term club. Kids can take turns experimenting with singing, dance and acting workshops.

8 | Brighton’s Treasure Hunt Trail

If you fancy getting to know our brilliant city better, than taking part in Brighton’s treasure hunt trail is a great way to do it. In this self-guided activity, you download the treasure hunt map, and try to find clues as you explore the city. We haven’t done this yet, but will definitely be trying it out during half term!

9 | Chester Tuffnut at the Brighton Dome

Head to the Brighton Dome for a wonderful puppet show about a mole called Chester. Join Chester on his adventures, and after the show you’ll be able to meet the woodland creatures and explore their dens.

The Brighton Dome offers craft sessions after their children’s plays, where kids can make a takeaway souvenir. For more information visit the Brighton Dome website.

** On Sunday the 19th of February there will be a Touch Tour for blind or visually impaired audiences and a Relaxed Performance, for audiences who will benefit from a more relaxed environment. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.
